Pubs, guilds, pros (Answer to why do people play HoN)

Hey!

Decided that it's time to write another entry, this time about something else than just my opinions about the recent patches. So, I was wondering what I could write about, and then I got this idea, why wont I write about pubs, guilds and "pros" (competitive scene).

The idea came from the fact that I just left my recent clan HoN Pickup.euro. It just didn't had what it promised me when I decided to try to join it. They promised a lot of in-house games and active clan, where I could learn new tricks and stuff. Well, the cruel truth was that they had nothing of that, the irc channel was always dead, no one answered to my messages, and whenever I was waiting for an IH to start, it never did. In fact, I got to play 1 IH during the 3(?) months I was in the clan, and saw just rew other IHs going on. I guess I just was online wrong time, or didn't check it when they were about to start one.

And why I would like to play IHs, when I could just play the public games or matchmaking matches? Cause I hate to play with pubs. In the 1600 range where I play (atm :P) you almost cannot speak of a team when you play there. It's just max 3 players in a team and then 2 individuals who do nothing as they are supposed to do or you ask them to do. It's really hard to find some guys in your own psr range, that would like to play with you, specially since Poltto is too good and doesn't have that much time to play during weeks, and j0k3 is already in higher psr category, and my finnish friends, well, there are some good ones, but there always comes the moment where "not so good" players want to get in.

You can see my problem? I know I should just find couple of pals from HoN community that want the same gaming experience that I do and play with them. The other solution would be joining a clan for IH games, and I'm again trying to get into [LC] (Legion Civilized), but they dont have that much of IH's anymore either...

I guess I just need to get better in playing HoN (or at least get my psr up to 1700 or something) so I could get into a "lower" level clan :D, then I would have a group to play with. Another solution would to set up my own clan that I would invite people into, after I had played with them, and then we could play as a team, but thats a way that takes too much time at least at the moment, but who knows what the summer holidays will bring (hint: [PUB] All Pubz Die! :D)

Now I have gone through the problems I have in my psr range, getting teamed up with pubs who really can't work as a team. Above this level, way above :D, is the competitive HoN scene, with all the top clans such as [5], [Load] and [KDe]. That I think is the goal of every HoN player, to get into competitive scene, find a good team to play with, and have some fun, after all that's what HoN is all about.

Having fun.

The Chipper

New patch came, new update comes late! :D

With the patch 0.3.3.2 there came minor balancing to heroes and items selling, as well as some interface updates. (view complete change log) But there also came something we, HoN players had been waiting for ages, A New Hero! :)

The new hero was ranged Intelligence hero for The Legion called "The Chipper". You can view his skills and stuff via the change log link (HoN forums, you need to login), so I can get straight into my point.

I love The Chipper! He's so much fun to play with his rockets, slow, ultimate and amazing ganking ability at the early game. The first time I played him my stats were something like 4-0-2 after 8 minutes or so (and I'm not a particularly great in playing him). It's just so easy to get early kills with your slow + lvl 2 or 3 rockets, specially if you have a decent hero in your lane (I had Polly :P). And you might think he's not as good when it comes to end game, but still his ultimate is very useful, just a cooldown of 30 seconds at level 3, which I think is almost ridiculous, after all it deals a great ammount of damage and is great tool for initiation.

There are also some bad sides in The Chipper, he can easily get initiated, since he doesn't have any stuns, just the ministun from rockets and the slow from tar tar. Also he doesn't have that much life, and he does need alot of mana regen to be able to use his spells. But all in all, he's great ganker, supporter and even a semi-carry (thought not the best one, but you can still do the job of 2nd carry with him, if you just get good roam [=alot of assists/kills] in the start), just as I like it. :)

So there are some thoughts about the new Chipper, my favourite hero at the moment I could say, comment here, what do you think about him, what do you like and what do you dislike?
